The project itself :

Project Overview

TrackLease is a “living” ERP and RFID platform that gives textile leasing companies real‑time control over every garment, from assignment to a specific wearer through laundry cycles and logistics.
As Head of Design, the work focused on transforming a complex, hardware‑driven system into clear digital workflows for managers, drivers, warehouse staff, and wearers, so each role can quickly see what they need to do and where every item is in the process

Problem:

Textile leasing companies struggle to keep accurate track of thousands of garments moving daily between clients, laundries, and warehouses, leading to losses and disputes.
Traditional ERP tools and manual processes do not give real‑time visibility into where each item is, who is using it, or how many cycles it has left, which hurts service quality and profitability.

Goal:

The main goal was to turn TrackLease into a clear, role‑based platform that gives every stakeholder—managers, drivers, warehouse staff, and wearers—real‑time visibility into garments, routes, and laundry status.
The design had to reduce disputes about missing items, simplify daily operations, and make it easy to scale the system across many sites and industries without adding complexity.

My role:

As Head of Design, was responsible for defining the UX vision, product structure, and interaction patterns across web, mobile, and handheld RFID interfaces.
Led the translation of operational work flows like truck routes, shipment creation, and garment assignment into intuitive screens, states, and components that different user types can use with minimal training.

Responsibilities:
  • Defined UX vision.

  • Built design system.

  • System Design

  • Worked with product/dev

All about the user :

User Research

Research focused on textile leasing workflows in industries like hospitals, hotels, food production, and clean rooms, observing how garments move from wearer to laundry and back.
Interviews with managers, drivers, and on‑site staff revealed where mistakes occur in counting, sorting, and assigning garments, and what information each role really needs on screen.

Pain Points

Lost garments and disputes

Clients frequently complain about missing garments or incomplete laundry deliveries, but leasing companies lack reliable data to prove what was picked up, processed, and returned.

Without item‑level tracking, disagreements over losses damage trust, consume support time, and reduce margins for both sides

Complex truck routes and logistics

Planning and managing truck routes between many customer sites, pickups, and drop‑offs is often done in spreadsheets or legacy systems with poor visibility.
Operations teams cannot easily see where each shipment is in the cycle, which stops are next, or how many clean/soiled items should be loaded and unloaded at each location.

Fragmented user experience across roles

Managers, warehouse staff, drivers, and wearers all interact with different tools, resulting in inconsistent data and high training effort.
Wearers especially have no simple way to link a specific RFID tag to themselves or report issues, so communication is indirect and slow

Wireframes & Prototypes

Wireframes and prototypes for this project focused on translating complex operational flows into clear, readable layouts before moving into final UI design.
They were created both for the end‑user mobile app used by garment wearers and for the web and tablet tools used by managers and logistics teams, so it was possible to validate how each side assigns garments, configures routes, and monitors garment status across the entire system.

Starting the Design

The design process started by mapping all flows around a single garment: assignment to the wearer, inclusion in soiled shipments, processing in the laundry, and return as clean inventory.
These flows were then expanded into role‑based journeys for managers, drivers, warehouse staff, and wearers, to define which actions and data each screen must prioritize

Mockups

These are a high fidelity design that represents a final product

Multiple design directions were explored for TrackLease, from dense, data‑heavy dashboards for managers to minimal, task‑focused mobile views for drivers and wearers.
Different navigation patterns, card layouts, and status visualizations were tested to balance operational detail with clarity, ensuring that each role sees just enough information to act quickly without feeling overloaded.

Outcome

The platform helps leasing companies reduce garment loss, shorten dispute resolution time, and provide more transparent service to their clients.
By aligning software and RFID hardware with real operational workflows, TrackLease improves control over assets, supports scalable growth, and strengthens long‑term relationships between leasing companies and garment wearers.
